Khoj approach towards elementary education is that the education should be responsive to the issues and problems of the learners in their daily lives. Relevance and participation are the hallmark of the work but special attention is also paid to efficient and effective methods of teaching as well. Salient features of Khoj methodology could be delineated as:
The Program has been divided into two levels: Core level and Advanced Level. Core Level It includes twenty five codes with the same number of keywords/ phrases/ sentences. Core program is for one year. After its completion, learners are able to read and write meaningfully any text of Urdu language and are proficient in basic mathematics A teachers' manual for children's education called ‘Rahbar' and a number of materials have been developed. The Advanced Level Program for Children Advanced level of Khoj education program for children includes the following subjects:
Advanced level is for three years and at its completion children are equal to the elementary level of formal system.
